Do you have Irish ancestors? According to the U.S. Census, 31 Million Americans (about 9.5%) claim some Irish ancestry - but not everyone knows the fine details. Many folks travel to the Emerald Island to access documents in places like the Irish National Archive, to get their family story from closer at hand. Many more rely on online sources such as Ancestry.com and other online databases to piece it together.
If you would like to get started in your Irish heritage journey, or if you have started but gotten stuck, we have some help for you! One of our dedicated volunteers has many hours of experience researching her Irish family tree - from Counties Cork, Roscommon, Tipperary, Antrim and Cavan, through Nova Scotia to New England. She will help you learn the fundamentals of researching Irish heritage, how to avoid some of the pitfalls and barriers to get the best information, and develop a strategy for future research.
